Study 02 of 19

That “Most Precious Message”

The 1888 message joins assurance in Christ with Spirit-produced holiness.

Hands-free narration of this study — good for the car.

Synopsis

In chapter 2, Sequeira examines that “most precious message” within the larger question of Christ’s humanity and the everlasting gospel. It uplifted Christ’s righteousness as the sinner’s hope and the source of obedience. It turns obedience into a supposed basis of acceptance and robs people of assurance. Sin includes lawbreaking and also the indwelling principle that inclines fallen humanity toward self. Humanity also needs deliverance from sin’s power and ultimately from its presence. The study invites the reader to test the author’s argument with Scripture and apply it without losing either Christ’s sinlessness or the priority of grace.
